Fair Business is a non-profit organisation established in 2008 to help long term unemployed people access permanent employment. We create real jobs for real pay in a range of businesses and we wrap workplace and personal support around these jobs to help people make a smooth transition back into work.
Research has shown that people with physical disabilities or mental health problems, indigenous Australians, young people living in jobless families and refugees are all disproportionately likely to experience significant barriers in finding work.
Fair Business runs several businesses, known as social enterprises, with the specific aim of creating new jobs for long term unemployed people. We create supportive, inclusive working environments to help people overcome any barriers and become a fully participating member of our team.
Eventually we plan to hand over each business to its employees, giving them the chance to own shares and control the future of their business.
